Pope, a thirty-one year Foreign Service veteran, was recalled from retirement in 2012 by the Obama administration to serve as senior US envoy in Libya following the murder of Ambassador Chris Stevens.

Pope’s talk was sponsored by the Department of Government and Legal Studies with support from the John C. Donovan Lecture Fund and the Bowdoin Marine Corps Society.

While on campus, Pope was interviewed for a segment that aired on the WCSH newsmagazine 207. Watch the interview.
