Through the generosity of Bowdoin alumni who have served in the United States Marine Corps, as well as friends and family of Bowdoin Marines, two endowed funds have been established at the College: the Bowdoin Marine Corps Society Scholarship Fund and the Everett P. Pope Lecture Series. Each year, these endowments provide resources in support of a scholarship to qualifying Bowdoin students and funding for the Bowdoin community to engage with foreign policy and national security expert.
Bowdoin’s endowment funds provide perpetual support and the growth of these funds increases their impact over time. Under the direction of the College’s Chief Investment Officer and the trustee members of the Investment Committee, Bowdoin has posted 8.8% market growth over the last 20 years and is in the top one percent of all colleges and university endowments tracked by Cambridge Associates.
The Bowdoin Marine Corps Society seeks additional support for the corpus of the BMCS Scholarship fund and the Pope Lecture fund. Gifts can be made utilizing a variety of giving methods including:
- Stock and wire transfers
- Donor-Advised Funds
- IRA Qualified Charitable Distributions
- Gifts of Non-Cash Appreciated Assets
