The Bowdoin Marine Corps Society Scholarship Fund benefits Bowdoin students who have honorably served in the United States Marine Corps and sons and daughters of active duty, reserve, retired or deceased US Marines. Particular attention will be given to those students who are children of US Marines killed or wounded in combat and have demonstrated financial need.
The BMCS Scholarship Fund receives gifts in memory of a Marine or other person. Future gifts may be made via estate plan provisions and other vehicles, such as beneficiary designations for retirement accounts, annuities and life insurance policies. Alumni Fund contributions may also be designated to the Bowdoin Marine Corps Society Scholarship Fund.

Future Gifts
You can make a future gift by establishing a provision in your financial or estate planning instruments that will direct a gift to the Bowdoin Marine Corps Society Scholarship Fund at some point in the future. There are a variety of ways to make a future gift:
- A bequest in a will or living trust
- A beneficiary designation for a retirement or bank account
- A beneficiary designation for an annuity or life insurance policy
- A remainder interest in a charitable or traditional trust
- A remainder interest in a donor advised fund
- A pledge of a future gift from an employer’s charitable giving program
Future gifts are revocable and many can be made contingent on particular circumstances. They provide the ultimate flexibility to allow for adjustments to meet unforeseen needs such as long term care, unanticipated family needs, high inflation or poor investment performance.
